The Keys to Filter Maintenance

Filters are vital to the overall performance of your vehicle. Regular maintenance of your vehicle’s filters is also the key to keeping your vehicle on the road and not broken down on the side of the road. The following is a breakdown of essential filters and their corresponding maintenance tips.

Oil Filter
Replace your oil filter every time you change your oil. Changing your oil filter at every oil change will ensure your engine is receiving clean, efficient oil to keep it cool and lubricated.

Air Filter
Make sure to visually inspect your air filter at least every 2 months. If your filter is dirty or clogged, make sure to replace your filter. A dirty/clogged air filter hurts your vehicle’s performance and hurts your vehicle’s fuel efficiency.

Fuel Filter
The smart thing to do is to change your fuel filter once a year. A dirty/clogged fuel filter will hurt your engine’s performance and cause your engine to hesitate and have difficulties starting.

Transmission Fluid Filter
Change your transmission fluid filter every 25,000 miles or every 2 years, whichever comes first. Transmission repairs are pricey, so it is vital to regularly maintain your transmission to help stave off repairs.
